The archive contains the photographic records compiled by some of the mountaineers who took part in the victorious expedition to K2 in 1954. The authors of the pictures are Ugo Angelino,Cirillo Floreanini, Guido Pagani, Gino Soldà and Sergio Viotto (the largest group). The same authors also took pictures, including some from the air, of the Matterhorn, the training ground for  the later expedition to K2, and of the Vittorio Sella Institute of Alpine Photography where they studied possible climbing routes to the second highest peak in the world by examining Vittorio Sella’s photographs.
