Between 1904 and 1922 Gaudenzio Sella produced over 1,000 photographs, mainly of Biella and the Biellese but also of travels in Italy and Europe. At first he used the camera for small Alpine views, then after 1904 he began to record the life of his family, relatives and friends, year by year, like a diary. He always  used the same camera with negatives measuring 9×14.5 cms.
